How do I retire my real estate license?

Kristen -

If you wish to stop practicing real estate for any reason but do not want to give up your real estate license, you may place your license in retirement. In order to retire your license you must complete and submit the TREC Form 1 and appropriate fees by mail or hand delivery to the office.

While in retirement, you cannot participate in any real estate transactions; however, you may receive commissions from transactions completed prior to retirement. In addition, retired licensees MUST continue to renew the license and pay renewal fees.

While retired, an active E&O insurance policy is not required nor is the licensee required to complete continued education.
